DXA uses a very low dose of dual-energy X-ray and is the clinical gold standard for diagnosing osteoporosis at the spine and hip; many models also measure body composition. QUS measures the heel with ultrasound — it is radiation-free, portable and economical, which makes it ideal for screening and camps.
Most orthopaedic and gynaecology clinics start with a portable ultrasound unit such as the SONOST 2000 or 3000. Clinics that need diagnostic-grade reports or body composition usually move to a compact X-ray densitometer or a central DXA. We'll recommend the right fit after a quick consultation.
